1/8/2024 0 Comments Sandisk micromate sd reader![]() I also have a rubber cap for the usb plug. You can do this if you use electrical tape and tape the cap on. I like the SD cards because they are 90% of the time faster than keychain Sandisk Cruiser type units. The design of this gadget was originated (i think) for camera buffs who want to transfer photos. I have a small 6 inch usb extension cord (female to male) and this allows me to use the adapter in any machine. Also the criticism about the usb plug not fitting into the computer usb slot secondary to the square shape is true. ![]() My problem with the design is that there is only one cap, it could use two (one for each end). I keep electrical tape around the cap and reader so the cap does not fall off. ![]() The cap can fit either end of the reader. Whenever I have files to transfer where reliability and lack of encountering a problem are essential - this is the interface which I will seek out and use and neither this nor the same brand - white colored interfaces from Sandisk - have ever let me down. The bottom line - if reliablity of your data is important, this Sandisk interface is well worth the few dollars more you pay for it.Īpril 2013 - one year later and this interface is still going strong - (while many others that I own have since passed onto the great unknown). With my old well used Sandisk this had never happened so I tossed the bargain interfaces and purchased 3 more Sandisk instead - and they are all working wonderfully. I had one Sandisk which I have used for making backups for 2 years but I needed more so (looking for a bargain and thinking erroneously that an "interface is an interface"), I purchased 3 from a different manufacturer but immediately encountered problems with all 3 of this less expensive brand: firstly they would not install unless they were plugged into a USB port on the computer and not on a port extender, and more troublesome, I encountered sdhc card corruption on more than one occasion. I keep all of my file backups on sets of 16g and 32g SDHC cards, so having a dependable interface is essential. ![]() This Sandisk SDHC - USB interface is excellent. Reviewed in the United States on 29 November 2011 I'm thinking these are defects or knockoffs, don't buy them! The other is transferring to the computer at over 100 MB/s, which I didn't even know my SD card could be read at. It was also through Amazon, but the white version and a different seller. Picture up showing how much space it takes up.Įdit: The other one I ordered is MUCH faster. so you would easily lose the reader if it came off by using it. One other notable issue is the key-chain loop is located on the cap. I only bought this one because I don't like wire clutter and wanted a faster reader, so that works for me. My front USB ports have more space between them than most, so it works perfectly for home, but it can cause problems with not fitting when I carry it around with me. except it is wide enough to take up 2 of many laptop, front desktop, or possibly even back desktop USB ports. I ordered another one to carry around with me, so I'll find out soon. So either I got a defective MicroMate or this caps at ~22 MB/s. My other SD card doesn't give a speed, just class 10, but has the exact same transfer rate to computer with this. I only get 18-22 MB/s transfer to the computer on this, and my card is a 30 MB/s.
